At the begining of the 10th stanza of hymnodia, the mass choir including the hymntestants, gave a beautiful rendition of ‘Christ Our Cornerstone’ with a descant composed by Sunday Olawuwo. The 4 hymntestants on probation were called on stage, while the GBC representative brought the envelope containing the name(s) of the Hymntestants with the lowest votes. After so much suspense, it was read out that Juliet and Blessing were Hymnvicted, as they had the lowest votes. This leaves 7 hymntestants in the competition. The judges for the night were: Dupe Ige, Sunday Olawuwo, Ben Ogbeiwi and Onyeka Onwenu.
The theme for the stanza was ‘Chorus to Hymns’. The hymntestants were expected to turn popular choruses into hymns, by making verses for them and turning those choruses into something special. The first two performances of the night came from Blessing and Juliet, they sang ‘Blessed Trinty’ and The Beauty of the Whole World’ respectively. They were their final performances on the Hymnodia stage.
After that, the Hymntestants remaining in the house came on stage to fight for their place at the Hymnstitute. Kenneth sang ‘Jehovah is your Name’, Mobolanle performed ‘As We Gather Here’, Uduak followed with a rendition of ‘God Never Fails’, Jemine came up with ‘When I Think Of The Goodness Of Jesus’, Abigael sang ‘Magnify The Lord With Me’ and the final performance for the night came from Rachael who sang ‘I Will Praise You’.
It was a tough time for the judges, deciding on who was outstanding and who would leave. After their deliberations, it was agreed that Kenneth and Olumide were outstanding. Unfortunately, Uduak, Mobolanle, Jemine and Abigael were put on probation. As usual, the hymntestant(s )with the lowest votes would be hymnvicted. They need all the votes they can get.
The competition keeps getting stiffer with each passing stanza. Our fingers are crossed.
It is Hymnodia afterall.
