Hymnodia is the definitive ode to hymn lovers all over the world. It is an entertaining reality show that brings talent, hardwork, the beauty that comes with nostalgia and mixes it with entertainment, suspense and excitement. Hymnodia season 1 kicked off with auditions that welcomed over 200 contestants hoping to become Hymntestants. They were asked to sing and were evaluated by seasoned experts on musicality, technicality, performance and personality.
The panelists included Dupe Ige Kachi, a renowned singer and vocal coach, Sunday Olawuwo – Music Director of Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral Church, Seun Owoaje, Music Director of Hymnodia, and Ben Ogbeiwi, Dean of the Hymnstitute. The pool of contestants was trimmed down at the end of each stage with hymn renditions and a touch of hymn writing on the final audition day. Thereafter, a streamlined list of 26 was selected into the post audition evaluations by the faculty. It was difficult, but it had to be done.
The induction day finally arrived and the 14 successful Hymntestants had arrived. Oh wait! There was a twist … they were 15. Kenneth, one of the Hymntestants had to battle it out with Casey, a wild card hymntestant. After a thrilling round of vocal lows and pitching highs, Kenneth won and retained his position in the Hymnstitute.
The Hymntestants entered the hymnstitute but Kenneth was nowhere to be found.
